BALSHALA

Balshala Policies

All parents are required to read the following carefully and sign a consent to policies in order to be able to enroll their children in the program.

  • Parents must be members of the Hindu Temple Society (HTS) in order for children to be part of the Balshala program. The registration fee and HTS membership fee must be paid at the time of registration every year. Failure to do so will forfeit your child’s place in the program.
  • Parents are encouraged to volunteer and contribute towards Balshala activities by participating in teaching, helping with organized activities like arts and crafts, prayers, sports day etc, by signing up for snacks, clean up duties, and donating supplies etc.
  • Children should be Pre-K or older to be admitted to the Balshala program.
  • Vanara group children (4 year olds) must have a parent available.
  • Students are not allowed to use cell phones, DSIs, IPads etc. or do their school homework during Balshala.
  • Parents are responsible for keeping up with emails and messages from the volunteering teachers to ensure that their children are receiving full benefit of the program.
  • Parents are responsible for their children to be on time on or before 10.30 am since late arrivals  can disrupt the class. All children are required to wear their Balshala T-shirts on all Sundays except when notified to wear traditional Indian clothing.
  • Parents are required to drop children at the HTS main temple for a short assembly followed by arathi. At 12 noon when the class is over, children need to be picked up from the HTS cultural center after snacks and clean-up.
  • Hindu Temple Society of Augusta cannot be held responsible for any lost items, injury, harm visible or otherwise to any child, parent or anyone attending the Balshala program at the temple premises.
